Winter Curb Appeal

At this time of year, curb appeal is more important than ever when selling your home. Have you ever found yourself driving through a neighbourhood you’d like to move into, and taking a good look at the houses that are listed for sale? We’ve all done it! Having an attractive entryway and a well-kept yard are literally your first impressions to your buyer and may be the difference between them calling their Realtor to book a showing or not. And if you are “for sale” in the fall or winter – an exterior photo will definitely be a key part of your agent’s marketing plan!

Keep your yard and garden raked and free of debris. Pressed for time? Hire a landscape company for a couple of hours of yard maintenance – they’ll get everything into shape, trim shrubs and bushes and haul away the excess. It’s money well spent! If you need them later in the season, they’re only a phone call away.

Without the vibrant summer shades of your lawn and garden, the entryway can look a little barren. Readymade urns can be picked up at garden centers or even supermarkets for a reasonable price. Or reuse your own urns by removing all of your summer plants and adding fresh greens and accessories. Make sure that your outdoor lights are clean and have working bulbs. And, if your front door isn’t looking it’s best, consider a fresh coat of paint. First impressions sell!
