Wallpaper is a large expression of your personal taste. Therefore, when selling a property keep in mind that, no matter how amazing you think it is, potential buyers will probably NOT like it. Look at your home through the buyers’ eyes and ask yourself, “Could this stop my house from selling?”.

The task of removing wallpaper is difficult and time-consuming at the best of times. You never know what is lurking behind or how much effort is required to remove, repair and re-paint. If you don’t remove it, you are telling potential buyers, very clearly, that you are truly not committed to selling your home. You are taking the HUGE risk of leaving equity, and plenty of it, on the table. More often than not, savvy buyers will move onto the next property that does not have the hurdle of wallpaper removal.

Buyers are looking for their dream home. They want a live-in ready property requiring little to no extra work. If you show them a neutral home where they can inject their own personal taste easily and cost-effectively, your home will move to the top of their wish list very quickly.

Yes, wallpaper is trendy, but trends come and go very quickly. Do the work BEFORE listing your property and capture the buyers as soon as they come through the door. Send the message that you understand what buyers are looking for and attract the most serious offers!
